Sanctuary Healing Arts Center

February 14, 2018 by Alexandra Martines

a sprouting seedThe Idea

The Sanctuary Healing Arts Center is the premier location for Reiki, Angel Reading, Akashic Records, Crystal Healing, and all types of spiritual intuitive healing training in the Pioneer Valley. The business has rapidly expanded to offer a huge variety of services both in-person and online to people all over the world.

Before their new website, the Sanctuary Healing Arts Center’s web presence was spread over several different websites. Having to update several different websites with new or changed class offerings complicated their business and took far too much time.

Collecting class payments, offering discounts, and communicating with students were other challenges the business faced with their old websites. Just sending class confirmation emails to students took several hours.

Instead of facilitating success and freeing up time, the website was another hurdle in building a business.

a seedlingThe Process

We began by inventorying all of the different websites and their content. We consolidated information, removed duplicate information, and eliminated unnecessary pages. Then, we focused on making the website as easy to navigate as possible.

Our major functionality focus was the class registration system. We needed a platform that would display classes in several different views – a list, a calendar, by category, and more. Once we found the perfect tool, we got down to customizing it to fit the business’s needs best. We introduced custom views, a new system for events that span multiple days, and automatic emails.

We knew that views and emails were the most important places to focus for saving the business owners’ time. With the new views, they can update the time or location of a class just once and have that change radiate out everywhere the event shows up on the site, without losing the flexibility of displaying lists of only relevant events. On the email side, students now receive a completely customized email with all the information they need to know about their class when they sign up, as well as an automatic reminder email 2 days before their class. And it all happens without the business owners needing to think about it or push a button.

The design of this project was almost as crucial as the functionality. In combining several brands into one, we needed to create a harmonic whole without losing the individual brands themselves. We developed a colorful but cohesive color palette and selected colors to represent each type of service the business offers. A bright green and blue unite the site, while gradients of darker blues and greens, yellows, pinks and oranges highlight different classes. We strove for a grounded yet airy design, to communicate the spiritual nature of the business’s teachings and the practical way in which they are taught.
