Mister and Missus G approached me for help with redesigning an existing site. They had a new album and style and were looking for a website to match.
They needed a great looking and speedy website to match their branding and attract new fans, a modern e-commerce platform to handle products and orders more attractively, and a more reliable content management system that would put them in the driver’s seat.
The Process
We started by surveying the competition to see how they were handling things like tour dates and social media strategy. Then, we devised a strategy for interacting with our fans and helping them interact with us.
I then got down to updating the design and functionality of the site to bring it into alignment with Mister G’s brand. I eliminated over a dozen plugins that were bogging down the site in favor of simpler solutions. I created a custom design using their old framework to refresh the site without starting over completely. Then, I wrote them a custom plugin that lets their fans share the concerts they’ll be at on social media.
I chose WooCommerce for the shop platform to allow for digital downloads and flexible shipping costs. Mister G’s team can easily add and manage products and customer orders, which saves time and administration costs.
After the redesign, I’ve continued to partner with Mister G on designing promotional materials.
Here’s what Mister and Missus G had to say about our work together:
We had worked with a number of web designers previously, and it was often difficult to communicate with them about changes we needed. With Alex, the communication has been excellent from the start. Even when we’re having a hard time explaining what we’d like she’s been able to intuit our needs and offer even better solutions than we might have imagined.
All those things you thought were so stressful about technology and websites? You’ll actually enjoy talking to Alex about them! Hire her before she gets too busy!
