The Health and Wellness Show website had been around for quite a while. It served as a hub of information for conference attendees and vendors, but it was tricky for them to get in touch with the organizer through the site. Worse, the site was impossible for the organizer to update when the venue changed or new vendors joined the show. The left him going through another developer for help making simple text changes to the site, instead of being able to make them himself.
On the technical side, the site used outdated software and was a frequent target of cyberattacks, making managing the site a headache because the owner always had to be one step ahead of the hackers. And all he wanted was a simple website for his conference!
The Process
Based on the existing design, we put together a proposed sitemap, including new pages for FAQs (to reduce the number of redundant questions the organizer was receiving via email), a map with directions to the venue, and contact forms that would make it easy for would-be attendees and vendors to get in touch.
We developed a completely new custom theme that communicates health and wellness with vibrant colors and lively movement and worked resources from the previous website into the new design. We developed the site to look as gorgeous on a phone as it does on a desktop computer so conference attendees could use the site while they’re at the show to navigate and look up information.
Lastly, we built in features that would make the site easy to manage and update, like automatic emails when visitors fill out forms and a super easy to use drag-and-drop page builder.
After the site was launched, we provided in-person, text, and video training for the organizer on the basics of keeping the site up-to-date with new venue and vendor information from year to year.
